ZenMaid Alternative: Who Should Switch, and Who Shouldn’t
The short answer: if you run a small residential maid service and you are happy with ZenMaid’s scheduling, booking and text reminders, stay on ZenMaid. It is well reviewed and cheap. Switch to JobFlowly if your problems are cleaner hours and payroll, proof of work, Airbnb or VRBO turnovers, or jobs with more than one cleaner, because those are built into JobFlowly’s daily workflow. On price the two are close. JobFlowly is free for solo cleaners, versus $19 a month for ZenMaid Starter. For a team, JobFlowly Pro is $49 a month flat for any number of cleaners, versus $39 a month plus texting fees on ZenMaid Pro.

Where ZenMaid Is Great
ZenMaid is built for maid services, and it has a strong reputation, with a rating around 4.7 out of 5 on Capterra.
The pricing is low, too. For $19 a month, Starter gives you a calendar, dispatch, a map view, invoicing and card payments through Stripe or Square. That covers up to 40 appointments a month, which is plenty for a solo cleaner or a very small crew.
At $39 a month, Pro removes the appointment cap and adds GPS tracking in the cleaner app, payroll, digital checklists, reports, booking forms and QuickBooks. That is a lot of software for the price. Pro Max, at $49, adds your own branding on booking forms, Mailchimp and Zapier, cleaner availability and time off, service ratings and data export.
If your week is mostly recurring residential cleans and your main jobs are booking clients and reminding them, ZenMaid does that well, and its Pro plan costs $10 a month less than JobFlowly Pro. It can also text your clients their reminders, for a fee. JobFlowly’s client reminders go by email only.
Where Cleaning Companies Outgrow It
The owners who go looking for a ZenMaid alternative usually are not unhappy with the calendar. They are unhappy with what happens after the clean. These are the four places it tends to show up.
Payroll and timesheets
ZenMaid Pro calculates hours and pay and exports them. It does not process payroll, and neither does JobFlowly. The question is how accurate the hours are before you export. Some reviewers say they have to clean up or redo payroll by hand. Others say the timekeeping does not fit companies that pay drive time, office time or mileage. If cleaners forget to clock out, this is where hours go wrong.
Jobs with more than one cleaner
A move-out with three cleaners is three sets of hours. One arrives late, one leaves early. If your software treats the job as one block of time, you overpay or argue about it later. During your trial, ask ZenMaid how it handles a real job from last week.
Airbnb and VRBO turnovers
Turnover cleaning runs on someone else’s calendar. Guests extend, cancel and book same-day check-ins. If you are copying checkouts from a host’s calendar into your scheduler by hand, every change is a chance to miss a clean. We could not confirm an Airbnb or VRBO calendar sync from ZenMaid’s pricing page, so ask ZenMaid directly if this is a big part of your work.
Proof of work
Property managers and picky clients want to see the clean. Photos on a cleaner’s phone do not help when a complaint comes in three days later. You want photos tied to the job and sent to the client without anyone remembering to do it.
What JobFlowly Does Differently
JobFlowly is cleaning software built around those four problems. Here is what each one looks like in a normal week.
A cleaner’s day, start to finish
Your cleaner opens the cleaner portal on her phone and clocks in at the first house. The clock-in is GPS-stamped. If she ends her day at noon and clocks back in at 2pm, both stretches are saved as day segments and both count. At the end of the pay period, that is already a payroll-ready timesheet.
The evening timesheet text
Each evening, an SMS timesheet assistant checks the day’s records. If a cleaner forgot to clock out, or there is a gap that does not make sense, it texts her and asks. She replies in plain words, like “I left at 4:30,” and the record is fixed from her reply. If an answer would lower her paid hours, it goes to you to approve instead of changing on its own. You stop finding these problems on payday.
Team jobs
On a job with three cleaners, each one clocks in and out on her own. Each cleaner’s hours go to her own timesheet. The hours add up on the client’s invoice, so an hourly deep clean bills for the time your team actually spent.
Airbnb and VRBO turnovers
Paste a listing’s Airbnb or VRBO calendar (iCal) link into the property. JobFlowly books a turnover clean on every checkout. When a stay changes, the clean moves. When a booking is cancelled, the clean is cancelled. Same-day turnovers, where the next guest checks in the day the last one leaves, are flagged on the job. You can also have the host emailed when a clean is booked, moved or cancelled. For more on winning this work, see how to get Airbnb cleaning contracts.
Proof of every clean
Cleaners take photos and video on the job, and they stay attached to that job. After each clean, a turnover report is emailed to the client or property manager, with no login needed. When a complaint comes in, you already have the evidence.
Invoices and reminders
Invoices are created from completed jobs, using the hours and prices already recorded, and you can see which ones are overdue. Clients get an automated email reminder the day before their clean. New clients can request a clean from your online booking page, and you approve it before it reaches the calendar. See how automated client reminders work for the details.
Run it next to ZenMaid for one pay period.

Pricing Compared Honestly
The two are closer on price than most owners expect. Here is what each plan includes.
- ZenMaid Starter, Pro and Pro Max: $19, $39 and $49 a month, as covered above. Starter has chat-only support and limited text and email templates.
- JobFlowly Free, $0: for solo cleaners (1 user, the owner who does the cleaning). Scheduling and calendar, unlimited clients and jobs, invoicing, an online booking page, email appointment reminders and the cleaner app with GPS clock-in.
- JobFlowly Pro, $49/mo flat ($490 a year): unlimited cleaners, no per-cleaner or per-job fees, no contract. Everything in Free, plus payroll and timesheets, dispatch board and route optimization, photo proof and completion reports, recurring jobs, Airbnb and VRBO calendar sync, Google review requests, team reports and a free custom website built for you.
- Bigger teams: running 20+ cleaners or several locations? Pro still covers you. Email us for help moving over.
ZenMaid does not include text message charges on any plan. JobFlowly Pro has no per-cleaner fees at any team size and no per-text fees, because client reminders go by email. One honest catch for solo cleaners: the Free plan does not include recurring jobs, photo reports or Airbnb sync. Those are on Pro.
Worked example: a team of 4 cleaners
- ZenMaid Pro: $39 a month, or $468 a year, plus whatever your text messages cost.
- JobFlowly Pro: $49 a month, or $588 a year ($490 if you pay yearly).
- Difference: $10 a month, or $120 a year ($22 a year on JobFlowly’s yearly plan), before ZenMaid’s SMS charges.
What does the extra $10 buy? GPS timesheets with day segments. The evening text that catches missed clock-outs before payday. Separate hours per cleaner on team jobs. Photo proof sent to the client after every clean. Airbnb and VRBO turnovers that book, move and cancel themselves. Plus the free custom website and Google review requests that come with Pro.
A simple way to decide: $10 a month is about $2.30 a week. One missed clock-out that turns into 2 unearned hours at $20 an hour is $40, or four months of the difference. If fixing timesheets, chasing photos or copying checkouts by hand costs you even one hour a month, the extra cost pays for itself. If none of that happens on your team, and your clients like getting reminders by text, stay where you are.
Who Should Stay on ZenMaid
Staying put is the right call for a lot of maid services. Stay on ZenMaid if most of these are true:
- You run a small residential maid service and ZenMaid already covers your scheduling and booking.
- You want client reminders sent by text. JobFlowly sends them by email only.
- Your work is recurring residential cleaning, not rental turnovers.
- Your cleaners work alone at each house, so one set of hours per job is enough.
- Payroll is simple and the export already matches what you pay.
- Clients rarely ask for photo proof.
- Your team already knows ZenMaid and nothing is breaking.
Switching software takes time and attention from your team. Do it only when the current tool is costing you more than the move will.
How to Switch From ZenMaid
Do not cancel ZenMaid first. Run both for one pay period, then decide.
- Get your client list out. ZenMaid lists data export as a Pro Max feature. On Starter or Pro, ask ZenMaid support for an export. Also write down the next four weeks of appointments so nothing falls through during the move.
- Start the JobFlowly Pro trial. It is free for 30 days with no credit card. Add your services and prices first.
- Set up recurring clients. Set each one up once as weekly, biweekly or monthly. JobFlowly creates the visits for the year ahead at the agreed rate.
- Connect rental calendars. For each Airbnb or VRBO property, paste the listing’s iCal link so turnovers book themselves.
- Invite your cleaners. They use the cleaner portal on their phones, with no app to download. Walk each one through one clock-in and one photo upload.
- Run one pay period in both systems. Compare the hours. If JobFlowly’s timesheets are closer to what actually happened, cancel ZenMaid.
The data is the easy part. The harder part is two or three weeks of new habits for your cleaners. Plan for that.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is ZenMaid free?
No. ZenMaid has a 14-day free trial, then paid plans. Starter is $19/month and covers up to 40 appointments a month. Pro is $39/month with unlimited appointments. Pro Max is $49/month and was marked "coming soon" on ZenMaid's pricing page when we checked in November 2026. Text message (SMS) charges are not included on any ZenMaid plan, so budget for those on top. There is no free plan. JobFlowly, by comparison, is free for solo cleaners.
Does ZenMaid do payroll?
Yes, on Pro and up. ZenMaid calculates cleaner hours and pay and exports them. It does not pay cleaners or file taxes, so you still need a payroll provider. Some reviewers say they have to clean up payroll by hand, or that it does not fit companies that pay drive time, office time or mileage. JobFlowly Pro also exports payroll rather than processing it. The difference is how the hours are recorded before the export.
What is the best ZenMaid alternative for a cleaning company with employees?
If your pain is timesheets, multi-cleaner jobs, proof of work or Airbnb turnovers, JobFlowly is built around those. Pro is $49/month flat for any number of cleaners, with payroll and timesheets, GPS clock-ins, a dispatch board, photo proof and recurring jobs. If your team mainly needs a calendar, booking and text reminders, ZenMaid Pro at $39/month plus texting fees is a little cheaper and well reviewed.
Does ZenMaid sync with Airbnb?
We could not confirm an Airbnb or VRBO calendar sync from ZenMaid's pricing page, so check with ZenMaid directly before you decide. JobFlowly does sync with Airbnb and VRBO through each listing's iCal link. It books a turnover clean on every checkout, moves the clean when a stay changes, cancels it when a booking is cancelled, and flags same-day turnovers.
Does ZenMaid have GPS tracking for cleaners?
Yes, on Pro and Pro Max, through the ZenMaid mobile app. The $19 Starter plan does not include cleaner GPS. JobFlowly includes GPS clock-in on both plans, including the Free plan, and on Pro each GPS-stamped clock-in feeds the payroll timesheet.
How much does cleaning business software cost?
In this comparison, ZenMaid runs $19 to $49 a month plus texting fees. JobFlowly is free for a solo cleaner and $49 a month flat on Pro for any team size, or $490 if you pay yearly. To compare fairly, add up the real monthly cost at your team size: the plan you need for payroll and GPS, any per-user fees, text charges and card processing fees.
Is JobFlowly more expensive than ZenMaid?
It depends on your size. A solo cleaner pays nothing on JobFlowly's Free plan, versus $19/month for ZenMaid Starter. For 4 cleaners, ZenMaid Pro is $39/month plus SMS charges and JobFlowly Pro is $49/month flat, so the gap is about $10 a month before ZenMaid's texting fees. That $10 buys GPS timesheets with an evening check for missed clock-outs, separate hours per cleaner on team jobs, photo proof sent to the client, and Airbnb/VRBO turnover booking. If you do not need those, ZenMaid is still a good deal.
How do I switch from ZenMaid to JobFlowly?
Start the JobFlowly Pro trial, free for 30 days with no credit card, while ZenMaid is still running. Get your client list out of ZenMaid, set up recurring clients, add Airbnb or VRBO calendar links for rentals, and invite your cleaners. Run one pay period in both systems, compare the hours, then cancel ZenMaid.
